Dr. Stamm’s Famous Salsa Recipe

Dr. Stamm with her famous salsa

Salsa is healthy, wholesome AND can be spicy and adventurous. It comes in many delicious forms: traditional tomato-based (of course) but also lots of fabulous variations such as mango, tomatillo, jicama, or black bean, and can be hot, mild, medium, and sweet. The same applies to dentistry. There is the traditional teeth cleaning, and cavity filling care (which we do amazingly) but we add many specialties on top that make us unique. Whatever you have the “taste” for in your dental wellness care this year, we believe we can satisfy it!

Salsa is a healthy snack with a great boost in Vitamin C, Potassium, Folate and Vitamin K. Check out Dr. Stamm’s famous salsa recipe as a wonderful base. Be adventurous and add your favorite fruits or veggies!

Ingredients:

  • 2 jalapenos from jar (number you put in depends on desired spice)
  • 2 cans of stewed tomatoes (I like the fire-roasted kind)
  • 1 can chipotle chili in adobo (optional, adds spice)
  • 1/2 small yellow onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 bunch of cilantro
  • 1 lime
  • 1 chopped regular tomato salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Place jalapeno, cilantro leaves, garlic, and onion in a food processor (or blender) and pulse until chopped.
  2. Zest the lime. Then add zest and juice of the lime to the food processor
  3. Add stewed tomatoes and chipotle chili. Pulse a couple of times until your salsa base is your desired consistency.
  4. Pour into a bowl. Add salt and pepper and chopped tomatoes.
  5. Let it sit for an hour (if you can) before serving to let the flavors blend and enhance.

Personal notes:

The chipotle chili adds smokiness, so sometimes I leave it out for different flavoring. Fun additions to mix in at the end: mangos, pineapple, jicama, black beans (rinsed and drained), or avocado!
